What is Fava?

A trip to Santorini is not complete without trying the island’s speciality dish, Fava. This famous Santorini dish is made from pureed yellow split peas served warm with olive oil and lemon. Chopped onions or capers are common toppings that bring out flavours of this dish. Fava is usually served as an appetizer with a side of freshly baked bread in tavernes, it can also be enjoyed as a main dish.
