What is a Koeksister?

When in South Africa and you are craving something local, sweet, delicious and warm, koeksisters will definitely meet your sweet tooth cravings. A koeksister are syrup infused deep-fried sweet are reminiscent of doughnuts. Koeksisters are braided into a plait-like shape before their deep fried until they are golden brown.
